University of Edinburgh spin-out, Robotical Ltd, which was founded by Alexander Enoch during his Robotics PhD, has devised and built a unique robot for kids, makers and educators – but he’s much more than a toy!
Marty, a fully programmable and customisable walking robot that can walk, turn, dance and kick a ball (to name just a few of his talents) enables users to learn about programming, electronics, 3D printing, mechanical design and robotics. Did we mention he’s Wi-Fi enabled too? And all for less than £100!
With early enterprise support from LAUNCH.Ed, Alexander applied and won the KickStart 2015 Runner-up prize, returning in 2016 with a re-branded Robotical Ltd to secure the first ever Converge Challenge Design & Creativity Award.
“The Converge Challenge was a fantastic opportunity which really helped get Robotical up and running. The funding is fantastic, and the training and opportunities to mix with my fellow entrepreneurs has been invaluable.”
Following on from their Converge win, Alexander was awarded an Enterprise Fellowship from The Royal Academy of Engineering to help spin-out his business.
In October 2016, Robotical Ltd closed an inspirational £68,000 Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, securing 480 pre-sales!
The Batch One Marty the Robot’s sold out in early 2017 and were shipped to their new homes in June! The second Batch Two Robot has enjoyed impressive sales and began shipping in December. Robotical also released new 3D printing Marty parts and a Beta Android App.
